Do we need a General Forum?

Hi All,
Lately I feel there are posts that get posted in forums simply since there is no clear forum they belong to.
(simply since most of the time I'm the one moving the missplaced ones around)

 I think we might benefit from the following forum structure:
 DataStage Common Issues (applies to Server/Enterprise jobs alike - such as Sequence jobs, Backups, Command Line interface and such)
 DataStage Server Issues (applies to issues specific to Sever jobs only)
 DataStage Parallel Issues (applies to issues specific to Parallel jobs only)

I would like to know what do you all think :?:

I agree to JobSequence.

How about two new forums one for job sequence and one for common issues.

It would be good if we have a seperate forum for job sequences as it is common for both server and parallel jobs. Job sequence are of vital importance in datastage. Why not we have it as a seperate forum?

It would be better if we keep other sundry common issues like backup,CLI in a seperate forum.

I think you're just asking for more work if you do that, Roy. There will be even more chances for people to put things in the 'wrong' place.

The goal I'm after is making this a better and more effective place for us all and not making my effort moderating minimal :)

As long as members post request to move the post I won't miss them and eventually move the topics to their apropriate forum :)

And Craig, must it be about the head-ache this may cause me? can't it simply be because I wanna :?:

I believe that a separate forum for Job Sequences is highly desirable; these are separate from other "general" topics as far as I am concerned.

I would also like to see a "sin bin" style penalty for other than newcomers posting in the incorrect forum. Perhaps a delay in responding.
[Penalty: incorrect forum: 24 hour response delay]

We should have a forum where we can discuss conceptual design issues. Having said that, I think creating a General Forum is a great idea.

The sin bin is a bit too unfriendly for a social site and it could result in duplicate posts if the original is locked out. Posting to the wrong forum isn't the end of the world, if you want to make maintenance easier give Move Thread rights to everyone with over 200 posts. They should be able to judge threads that are in the wrong forum and you will find threads get corrected very quickly.

A genereal forum would might lead to wrong answers posted also. Sometimes people dont even see what the poster is using PX or server.
I would go for a genereal forum when the DS type is explicity shown up.

Other then that if someone wants to compile solutions from each PX or server, it will be hard to browse and find them.

I vote for a general forum and the idea of sin bin is awesome. The people who find it hard to browse should get accustomed to it.

Thanks,
Sai.

Actually I though the update limiting the poll to 1 day should have done the trick :? , but seeing members still vote reduced my willingnes to close it till the next poll comes
