DSXchange integration with Twitter

Hi All,

Like many people I'm increasingly using twitter to manage my communuications and thought it would be useful if DSXchange posts could be forwarded as tweets.

Are there any plans to Tweet the posts submitted to DSXChange? I notice that Dennis has a DSXchange account on twitter already but wondered whether there were plans to connect this to the forums (or 'fora', if you're a linguist.)

I also noticed that a number of people are working on phpBB Twitter Modules. Perhaps when this code is stable it could be incorporated into DSXchange?

Almost none of the responses I put onto DSXchange is short enough to use this technology. Plus I don't use it personally. Phone or SMS is good enough for the few communications I need to have.

I was thinking of DSXchange generating a single tweet as a new post gets submitted. I think one tweet for each udpate would be superfluous. The tweet could contain just the post's subject line (usually enough to pique interest) along with a tinyurl link to the post.

Dennis could create individual twitter accounts for each forum, so that users could subscribe only to those of interest. Look at the number of subject-specific twitter accounts IBM has!

I understand not everyone's a tweeter, but I think it's a failrly low-cost enhancement (maybe just installing the relevant phpBBmodule?) which would be of great benefit to those of us who are.

An interesting idea, for sure......going further, I'd like to see some cool integration of Information Server into Twittter (or similar technology). A single "tweet" for events that are worth noting on a DataStage and/or data integration team....with filtering of course.... notification when a job finished, or a certain job was compiled or imported, or when a new table is imported [and connect into things like the database and let me know when the table was altered or the model changed]....in addition to developers simply stating their own current status.

Could get out of hand, but so can looking at everything that Demi Moore is doing on an hourly basis. Could just "turn off" the events I don't care about.

With a couple hundred posts a day you would be filling up Twitter with (even more) junk and obscuring genuine Twitter chatter about DataStage. Have you noticed that if you Twitter something about DataStage someone asks you what you think of the product? If you see an interesting DSXChange thread you can twitter a shorturl to it.
