We are live with mock authentication

Hey - we were putting the java custom script in the java custom properties. Instead we had to add them as JVM arguments (and in the format -dmockAuthenticate, etc.). Now this works - access for the enterprise to BG with no login required. Eliminates the login on the Cognos right-click/glossary step ...

Re: Problems installing Business Glossary Anywhere on Window

Okay - was able to test the new BGA install that IBM sent and it does work on Windows 7. We could install on Windows 7 before - but only by turning off UAC beforehand and then turning it back on after the install.

This new process can be automated because it requires no Admin intervention. Yay!

Re: Problems installing Business Glossary Anywhere on Window

IBM has now sent us the patch for this. Unfortunately we just had a huge project consume all the Sys Admin time and I'm not sure when we will be able to test this. Anyone else waiting for this and able to test it?

If so, please contact me. Thanks!

Re: Thanks, Ernie!

We tried this again yesterday. It looks like everything goes fine on the WAS server. However, when I comment out the username and password on the config.ini file for the BGA install - the install appears to work. However, when I do open that on my desktop it cannot connect to the server because - da...

Re: Problems installing Business Glossary Anywhere on Window

I have been told that this problem is addressed as APAR JR43705. The fix is available as part of the latest IIS 9.1 and should also be available in the upcoming 8.7 Fix Pack 2. However - the release date for that is not yet established. You can see the APAR in the list below for 9.1: http://www-01.i...

How do you identify 'concept' terms in the Glossary?

In our Business Glossary we primarily have terms that end up in a Cognos FM model or on a Cognos report. So - terms like 'Employee Name' or 'Employee Start Date'. But we also want to store in the Glossary terms that are more broad - in this example, we want to define 'Employee'. Is there a Business ...

We will give it another shot, then. And thanks for the tip about when I DO WANT to login for BG Administration to have the login.jsp on the URL!

Do you have a code review for moving to Production?

If you have an existing peer or code review process - would you be willing to share it? I realize that code and peer reviews are largely based on the standards within your organization. However, it will be useful for us to see what others are doing so that we can incorporate best practices. Feel fre...

Took us a while to install the patch and test it. And even longer for me to get around to updating this posting. The patch did fix the problem of having special characters as part of term names. I'm still recommending that we try to avoid using special characters in term names but % is the most comm...

Ray - I believe that may depend on how your company is set up for installations. In our environment with so many different operating systems and images - the software installation components are staged in a common repository and then you can opt-in to install the software. One of the staged componen...

How to encrypt config.ini file for BGA install

We would love to roll out Business Glossary Anywhere (BGA) using a generic login with a non-expiring password. We got permission from our Office of Integrity to do that - thinking that would be the big hurdle. However, that login and password need to be in the config.ini file and they are not encryp...

Problems installing Business Glossary Anywhere on Windows 7

The silent install process for Business Glossary Anywhere is not working on machines with the Windows 7 operating system. IBM documentation says it should. Anyone successful with this and willing to share what they did to make it work?

Get the videos working again!

I've sent notes to Dennis with no luck. Even as a Premium subscriber I don't have access to Premium content because the list of available videos has no scroll bar. So I can tell there are more than 2 because I can see 2.5 described) - but cannot access them.
