Kudos for oci8to9

Hi, I 2nd Tony's motion. We used oci8to9.b on several hundred jobs and it worked very well. The gui is a little wierd when you run it out of admin. If you are converting a lot of jobs you know it's done when its buttons light up again. You have the instructions on how to install it, right? It is als...

Hi, I was going to suggest outputting to a complex file format. complex file format understands packed pretty well. but i just tried it and cff is input only. unless someone knows of a 'pack' routine in datastage it's going to be pretty painful. remember ibm type machines use packed in machine instr...

Mourney, That was great that you found those specific issues with SP2. When I posted that DS 7.5 worked with SP2 I was thinking more at the gross level. I didn't know a lot about SP2 and I was scared the new SP2 firewall would slam my server shut from the client or something. I have what Ascential o...

Ray, Thanks for the tip. I tried it today and the results were tremendous. I defined ORACLE_HOME and SHLIB_PATH at the highest Windows level. Wasn't sure I needed it but I figure SHLIB_PATH didn't hurt anything. The interface worked! I got OCI9 working. It was fussy about user defined queries for so...

Hi, I am familiar with an experience of moving from 5.2 to 7.1 with an attempt to go to 7.5 over the last few months. We Upgraded (real DS Upgrade, not a fresh install) from 5.2 to 7.1 and there were a few minor differences like Teradata defaults but that was generally successful. With Parallel Exte...

Ray,

Thanks. Yes that makes sense and I remember seeing the environment variables in Windows. I just thought they needed to be more directly associated with DataStage and I could see no place in the Admin where I could do that.

Winows DS Server Pointing at Oracle DB

Hi, How do you point a Windows 7.5 DS Server at an Oracle database if you have the Oracle Client installed on Windows server with DS Server installed? In Unix you put: ORACLE_HOME=/c07/xxx/oracle/product/9.2.0; in dsenv to point to the Oracle client. but where is dsenv or equivalent in Unix. Thanks....

Hi, I installed DS 7.5 Server Edition on an XP Pro Client. I installed from scratch and then Imported my 7.1 Jobs. I didn't upgrade. I have it working pretty well. It is reading a teradata database where I work through ODBC. I had trouble with Project Variable on the Win Server but I'm having troubl...

multi cpu configs

just wanted to add one other thing in addition to the excellent post above. unless you are using enterprise edition (parallel extender) one job can use at most one cpu. so unless you are running lot's of jobs at the same time or you have a lot of other non datastage stuff on the datastage server ext...
