Thanks.

I didn't think of using another DS job to send the message. I thought I was going to have to do that outside of DataStage.

Thanks for your response lstsaur. I have a couple other questions: If RTI/Soa package is not needed, how does a job with the MQ stage run? Does it run in batch, or in real time. In other words, when I run my job, does it read all the messages available from the queue, and then terminate? Or is the j...

I have heard some clients complain of issues getting DataStage to interact with MKS properly when MKS and DataStage are installed on different drives. I have also heard that the MKS installation likes to install itself to local C drive. You should check to see if MKS and DataStage are installed on s...

MQ Stage - Batch or Realtime

Hello Forum, I don't have so much experience with Real time ETL products. My understanding is that MQ Series is usually used in real time processing to consume messages produced a registered source. So my questions are: 1. Does the MQ Stage perform any real time functionality. Or does it just read m...

Broadcasting Adminstrator messages to client GUI.

Hello Forum, In our environment, we sometimes require rebooting the server. Currently we inform users via email in advance. However, we would prefer to send something more noticeable alert to anybody who has a DS Client open to save/close/export etc. We feel this would be little more efficient than ...

You really want to leave this service enabled because you will need to release locks and clear up any internal repository glitches that may occur and this interface provides the most ability to do so. Thank you for your response. Are you saying that there is some repository maintenance functionalit...

DataStage Telnet Service

Hello Forum,

Is the DataStage Telnet Service simply an alternate interface to the command interface presented in the Administrator Client GUI?

Will disabling cause any adverse affects to the Engine or Client GUIs?

The gartner group has a nice visual that compares ETL tools on both 'Vision' and 'Execution' dimensions. It looks cute, and it's the typical chart that executives like to use in coming up with a short list of ETL products. However, I disagree with rating that many ETL products get on the Gartner com...

Virus Scanners and DataStage EE Server

Hello Forum,

Has anybody experienced any issues with active virus scans or scheduled virus scans running while DS jobs are running?

I was wondering if anybody thinks the scans can cause RT_CONFIG errors?

Limiting Number of Simultaneously Executing Jobs (Cleanly).

Hello Forum, When receiving the following error, the solution is typically to increase uvconfig entries to allow for more UV resources to be allocated (T30FILES, MFILES): Unable to allocate Type 30 descriptor, table is full. My work environment has been getting this error and other RT CONFIG errors ...

Lookup Tempfiles (dynLUT*)
