Seems to me you can simply read it as one long 250 character record and then write it out as 240. No CFF or extra shenanigans required.

An aborted job won't cause that error. Since your jobs are compiled, the common reason for this error is the job is already running and is a scheduling error - either within this sequence or outside of it.

Interesting... what do you need from the file - just the XML data or all of the information? And I'm assuming the XML needs to be parsed as well, yes? Also, your sample shows several records but I'm curious if the XML is all on one line (all in one record) or is it split across several lines?

Exactly, standard stage stuff. That option doesn't get a lot of play in my experience as you can't use it to simply create the target table once like you could with say a hashed file. It will happily create it but then fail on every subsequent run as the object 'already exists'. Use it if you have a...

'Propagation' in Informatica is something completely different from RCP as it is a design time feaure, not a runtime one.
