And it isn't really set to purge "in 5 days". It's set to keep at most five days in the log, and as Ken notes, will purge anything over 5 days old only after the job runs successfully. That's key to note as well, if a job completes with Warnings or Aborts the auto-purge will not be triggered.

Use the Routine Activity stage to actually call the routine and then use the Nested Activity stage to check the results and decide what to do.

I haven't seen it either. Probably a timing thing and depends on exactly where your cursor is parked when you do it - that, plus your three finger technique. I press and hold down Ctrl and Alt and then tap Del, I've seen others try to bang all three simultaneously. Now, if the delete key comes down ...

Get one!

As you can see, the consensus in this thread and on the forum is that the import will not work without actually logging in.

Well, then... don't use the 'Three Finger Salute' to lock your workstation!

That goofy 'Windows' key on your keyboard + the 'L' key will lock it straight away.

The official answer is Version Control - a separate installable tool that comes on the DataStage Client cdrom and installs on your pc. Check to see if you have it installed and if not, do so. Read the docs that come with it, particularly the Methodology chapter, which is Chapter 2 from memory. Come ...

That's just not valid SQL and wouldn't work in any tool. :?

Break up your 'or's - you need four separate tests to check what you want to check.

It's not meant for anything even remotely resembling a 'high' volume of records. We switched over to a command line UNIX sort and got at least a 10x speed improvement.

For your volumes you'll definitely need to go third party.

Doesn't sound like the Key field(s) you are using in the Hashed file are unique. You do understand that there is no such thing as a 'duplicate record' in a hashed file and duplicates are resolved via destructive overwrite, yes?

Please don't let this scare you off. Yesterday was a long ass day for me - started at 6:30am and didn't end until 11pm - and was a little... cranky.

Answer Ray's question so we know which tool you are using. Ask some specific questions. People will help.

I'm sorry, I see this is your first post here but - is there a question in here somewhere? Surely you don't expect to post the requirements for a piece of work you've been tasked with and have someone hand you all the gory 'How You Would Do It' bits on a silver platter, do you? If you gave it some t...
