after this warning "Failed to discover JobMonApp port, APT_ORCHHOME environment variable may not be set correctly." my job is running perfectly...... the only problem is i am not able to c the performance statistics in my job... plz dont reply " Right click on the canvas and select Show performance...

Two things. 1) Posting in ALL CAPS is considered SHOUTING. Please don't shout. 2) What did you find when you searched for your error message, for example "Failed to discover JobMonApp port"?

Your 'blank' is an empty string but still a known value. A null is an unknown value and an essential part of 'three-valued' logic. See also null.

Does your External Source stage select just the filename and is your XML Output set to use Column Content: URL/File path via that one field?

Where exactly are you doing this? Are these job parameters that you are passing to a BASIC routine, for example? Hard to give specific advice without knowing where you are doing this. Job parameters are enclosed in pound/hash signs when used in most places: #TEMPDIR# for example. Another suggestion ...

The XML Input stage is used to read XML. You would feed that using an External Source stage, a search should turn up the specific techniques.

FYI - I did an Exact Search for Incorrect dboption list; it failed on Expected "," or "}", got: "$", line 1. to turn it up.
