Or just wait. How much time does it take for them to close? I typically am able to restart within 10 minutes or so.

You should report this to your official support provider. I'm guessing you've lost the connection to the UniVerse repository but not the XMETA one? :?

I'd wager it really isn't "working working".

Did you restart DataStage after making the timeout change? And the fact that you can still 'save and delete things' after that error must be new to 8.x as you sure can't in the 7.x version. :?

There are different import tools and they can give different results. You used the 'right' one, without the imported metadata you'd have to define all the columns by hand. How are your number field defined in your job?

I think 'strange characters' are allowed under UniCode. What are the hex values? Use a (free) hex editor or 'od -h' on the UNIX side to find out. What kind of data are you encoding?

What are the source Oracle fields - unbounded NUMBER types? What metadata are you using in the job? How did you import the metadata?

A word of advice. You're getting the reaction you're getting because all you did was come here and say something in essence 'was broke'. Would you do that somewhere else, say taking your car in to be fixed? No, you'd provide details about the issue, give the people whom you are asking to help you w...

Techincally, you've got 20,000+ people who could help you out here, however the vast majority only seem to post when they have a problem. It's a very small group that try to help others, but that's the way it is anywhere, the nature of the beast. And when the Alpha Male steps in, almost everyone el...

From what I recall, it creates a pipe and sqlldr reads the pipe as input. Of course, my recollection could be complete crap... so maybe someone else will pipe up and clarify things for us. No pun intended.
