Re: XML input stage usage in parallel job of data stage

You can read XML file using sequential file also!! even folder stage can be used. Dear 'Boss', As noted, you can only use the Folder stage in a Server job which is why I didn't mention it in this thread but which Ernie did if you bothered to check the linked site. And while you can 'read' an XML fi...

By searching the forums here as you're not the first to ask this. Use a 'generic' part of the message, for example "found converting string" and do an Exact search, 18 other posts will be found to check.

"RCP" is Runtime Column Propagation where columns not specifically mentioned are magically added at runtime and passed through the job. I assume that is not the case here and that you have specified a distinct set of columns to work with. So, the table matches the DDL used, it just seems a...

Easily done in a Sequence job. Use the Execute Command stage to do a 'normal' zip (if you have it) or 'compress' to your static name and then specify that filename in a Notification Activity stage as the attachment.

Interesting that you actually got that 'zero date' out of Oracle. It should either be a legitimate date or null, I would think. If you want to pursue this, I'd have your DBA dump that particular field value and see what is actually in it, seems to not be a valid date. :? However, what you've got now...

Search the forums for uvfixfile or fixtool either of which can be used to check / attempt correction of corrupted hashed files like this. Your admin should know of them, I would think. Worst case, restore it from backup.

Don't even bother trying to read it with a Sequential File stage, rather use the External Source stage in a Parallel job as noted here by our XML Guru, Ernie Ostic.

And, accessable from the menu from the same area as all of the other DataStage documentation is a Windows Help version as well, from what I recall.

Doesn't anyone use the darn Preview button? :? You need to wrap your "ascii art" in [/b] tags to prevent all of the "extra" white-space from being sucked out, right now it just looks like it was heading left and hit a brick wall at high speed. What are you using for your "OK...
