Requesting advice on Data Lineage options

OK guys, I'm confused but I know some of you can help me. Management is considering software upgrades that may involve re-writing DataStage jobs somehow. I recently provided them with Oracle's delivered data lineage spreadsheets, and began discussing the possibility of generating data lineage report...

in the short run, you may get relief by selecting "Show Folders" on the VIEW drop-down menu. If you are familiar with the folder structure of your project(s), and you don't NEED to see all jobs simultaneously, this may be usable for a time. Added: I see that I have misunderstood the questi...

If you give it a primary key, does that make it no longer be a "heap?"

Would you like to just check the Job's Log in DataStage Director? Depending on how you have logging configured, that may show the entire history of the running of that Job.

Did I misunderstand something?

Oracle's SQL Developer lets you right-click and select TABLE and COPY to quickly copy one table to a new table. There is a check-box for if you want data.

I just tested and it seemed to be reasonable speed-wise?

Andy Sorrell,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your advice looks excellent. I do wonder about my ability. I'm thinking this resolves my general advice question. However please feel free to continue contributing as you see fit.

Refreshing DS Project from PRD down to TST

Guys, I need advice. We had someone else (who is more or less gone now) set up our TEST environment, with the understanding that our DataStage Project would be copied down from PROD to TEST. This may not have been done. We have found a TEST Job that was modified extensively, but never successfully r...

This is worrisome. I paid for 2 years and I've got plenty of time left, but whenever I do have to re-subscribe I don't want to do without this valuable resource!

Can't somone look at this process and make improvements?!

Did you try logging in from someone else's workstation? It could be specific to that machine.

Also, when they uninstall you might want them to uninstall all DataStage software and manually delete all folders, or use RevoUninstaller to cleanly uninistall for you.

Try someone else's box.
