Developer needs Admin rights on DS server?
I am a consultant working at a customer site and the customer does not want to provide admin rights to the server where DS is installed. The developers who are trying to log into Designer, etc. are using their own Windows user/password and they cannot get in. The message is "Project is not avai...

One more follow-up - hopefully last
I did some more testing and found that the SQL Server driver I was trying to use for my ODBC connection may not have been working properly. (Not sure if an XP issue) I loaded the Ascential drivers - apparently not part of the base install - and used the Ascential SQL Server Wire Protocol driver in t...

This is a final follow-up to my original post. After extensive testing, I found that it is the DRS stage that is the issue with XP as the server platform. The DRS stage was created to enable a flexible source and target configuration using an environment variable for the database type. I did tests a...

Regarding using a different platform - I am a consultant implementing the product and was issue a new laptop with XP. I have downloaded gigs of software- other tools, etc., configured everything, and had hoped to not have to re-image it with Windows 2000. Plus, I have gotten used to a one minute reb...

Further testing: Replaced IPC stages with transformers and it still reacted the same way - record counts after the transformer and no record counts before it. Copied the map, removed everything except a read from source directly to a hash table - worked fine, read all source rows, and wrote them suc...

I increased the timeout on the IPC to 240 and it still acted the same way. A note here is that when I start the job, it immediately starts the record count after the IPC - there is no delay or waiting. As far as why use an IPC - these are jobs (hundreds) that are shipped with the product and Develop...

When I run a simple job: Source---> IPC ---> Transformer ---> IPC ---> Target There are no rows being read from the source, yet the row count after the IPC rises very quickly into hundreds of thousands of rows. When I finally abort the job, the job log shows the read SQL statement and the has hundre...

Windows XP as DataStage Server
I am trying to work with DataStage Server Edition on my laptop which has Windows XP as the operating system. It seems to have installed correctly, but I am seeing strange things when I am trying to run jobs. I went on IBM's sight and it says that XP is not supported as the server platform for DataSt...

"Must be root or base administrator" on DS Server
Trying to upgrade DataStage from 7.1.1 to 7.5. When installing the Server software, about a third of the way through the install, I get a message saying "Setup failed to apply license information". When I look in the uvregen-output.log, it says "Must be root or base administrator to r...

One solution is to add an 'Abort' link to each job and connect them to the SendMail stages which will send the statuses of the jobs. Thanks. I had thought about that, but had hoped that I wouldn't have to do that much work. It would seem that the job status would show the final status of the job af...

Exception Handler Email Notification - Job Status
I have a sequence job that runs 3 server jobs in succession. I am testing error handling and have added an Exception Handler that has an Email Notification stage connected to it. The email has the option selected to send job status with it. I made the second job fail by having it in a state where it...
