We = IIS development team. In 11.3 (if not 9.1), we depreciated the appearance of the Basic Transformer stage in the default palette. It may be eliminated in the future (as there are some legacy stages that have indeed been eliminated in 11.5. For customers using those stages, they will need to go u...

As far as I know, no. However, I may be wrong.

You will need to discuss this with the account manager at IBM, who will need to discuss with QualityStage's product manager. There may be some certain actions you could take to make this possible, and they can tell you so.

Unfortunately, Basic Transformer is not something we really advocate these days, thanks to our MPP efforts. For example, your job would not be able to be migrated to an environment using Hadoop YARN. Set up a stand-alone server job if necessary. Avoid cross-pollinating Server BASIC within the Parall...

It means that the behind-the-scene activity that is done within the stage itself most likely prevented the ability for you to do this task within Netezza Connector. Sorry.

(You could ask for an enhancement request to make this possible, somehow.)

It is actually very rare for a project to get corrupted based on my observation within IBM Support. But it does happens. The key is to do backups when customers are NOT editing or have any open sessions for that project itself.

(or just extract to DSX/ISX and use that as your backup.)

You should not be reading and writing to the same file at the same time. It just does not work well that way due to the locks that we impose while writing to the file.

I would suggest a review of the job design is in order.

With knowledge of C/C++, and the ability to build a custom stage, you can access just about anything. The real question is whether or not this will provide you with information that can be useful in a structured data format, or if a different solution is ideal due to unstructured data.

Sounds like one of the gap feature that we support. You will need to explicitly request that it always pull from the largest value if you wish to avoid generating using gaps in the surrogate key. The column is on the database's table itself. It is informing you that you are not going to populate this field.

This usually happens when you are trying to update with the entire table, instead of using a generated SQL statement.

The only real limitation is the filesystem itself. Each project have its own directory with a whole bunch of files and directories within. I would suggest having a Project for a specific purpose in your organization. Yes, you can use a single project for everything, but like many ancient databases, ...

Okay, do remind them that if they wish to have IBM provide an easy-to-use option for accessing Big Data, they should consider upgrading anyway. Plenty of cool stuff added for 9.1, 11.3 and 11.5, after all! :-)

When you do the migration, did you use the same full path, or was the path different?

Also, did you ensure that the user accounts's UID/GID are the same on the other server?

Even if you cross-mount to a new server, if you are using the second server as a primary (Conductor) node, you should be including the /.dshome file (by manually creating/duplicating it from the original server, or sharing it from the original server). Still would not resolve the missing dsenv file....
