We used to have lots of failures with 7.5. Don't know why but they stopped. No issues with 7.5.1 or 8.1.

Oracle modules located

We found the perpetrating oracle modules with incorrect permissions. The libclntsh.a and libclntst9.a modules in the $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 directory had permissions rw-rw----. Those modules had permissions of rw-r--r-- on our other server. The SA changed the permissions for the two modules to rw-r--r--...

Error loading "orchoracle" Permission denied

When we run a DataStage parallel job with OCI stage we get the following error. main_program: Error loading "orchoracle": Could not load "orchoracle": Permission denied. [api/opreg.C:278] Could not locate operator definition, wrapper, or Unix command for "oraupsert"; pl...

We had a similar issue when we moved to an authentication tool called Keon. Here is what we found out. The DataStage logon daemon reads the /etc/passwd file to get the password for the id that is attempting to logon. The password from the /etc/passwd file is then used to logon, not the password that...

DS 7.5.1 and MQ version 6

Is anyone running MQ version 6 with DS version 7.5.1? We have MQ 5.3 which is out of support from IBM. DS support has not been able to tell us if MQ version 6 will work with DS 7.5.1. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in this area. Thanks.

Update on using NAS vs SAN. The application was experiencing performance issues after about 3 months or so. When we all sat down and thought about it, it was determined the problems started about the time we moved to NAS. We stopped everything, including the DS daemon, and had the SA copy to necessa...

Steps to recover VOC file for project A if it is destroyed. This works if the VOC file is the only file that is affected. I cannot attest to how successful this is if other files are affected. 1. Create a new project(B). 2. Copy the VOC file from the new project dir(B) to the old project dir(A). 3. ...

How a project VOC file can be destroyed.

On Unix a project VOC file can be set to 0 bytes by running a ExecSH in a After routine of a job with a rm command. What happened to us is the rm command was used with a job parameter, rm #filename, where the default value for #filename was ???. You Unix gurus might know that ??? is a regular expres...

Another cause of the 39202 error code. Make sure the user group has "write" permission to the directory listed as uvtemp in the uvconfig.

You didn't say what you were doing when the error occurred. The "3523" is the number that DataStage assigned to the job when it was imported/created. You can find out which job it is by using the "Command" button after selecting the project in the DataStage Administration client....

DS Admin client access

I would like to know if anyone has implemented a method to limit access to the settings set by the DS Admin client. I know most of the settings are in a Params file that is owned by uid/gid - "dsadm"/"dstage". I know we could remove write permissions for the group but that would ...

Record xxxxxxxx in DS_STAGETYPES does not exist

The developers are not able to see several stages in the Designer client for one Project. When they try to open a job they get the error message "Record multiplyLanguages in file DS_STAGETYPES does not exist". This happens for several stages. When we do a LIST on DS_STAGETYPES it shows the...
