Thanks

That's a good option. I do wish there was something in more of a table format instead of the book format. But thanks for narrowing it down for me - lots of reports to explore!

Reporting on full table column analysis

I'm new to using Info Analyzer and haven't yet found the report I need. IA gives you such great metadata about the columns in a table - but is there some way to see that in total? I'd love to see a report that show max, min, cardinality%, and implied format for each field. Right now it looks like I'...

Re: Secure Sockets Layer certificate configuration

Hi Mukejee- I don't think most companies implement Business Glossary with https level security. It's usually within a company intranet and you have to grant users or user groups access - which is usually security enough. We don't have the same requirements that you must have - but it's possible that...

Not an issue in 8.7 - so maybe there is an 8.5 fixpack?

Hey - how frustrating to have that basic issue!

I am on 8.7 and I don't have that issue. So I'd start seeing if there is a fixpack for 8.5 that addresses that. Fix packs seem easier than new releases!

Keystroke combinations

Yes! And maybe that is the best way to approach this. I was trying to keep it simple (use one hand) but that may just introduce problems. You can set it up to use Keyboard keys and a left or right mouse button (clearly no Apple support!) *or* a keystroke combination + a letter key. The keystroke com...

BGA: Best keystroke combination to use?

Business Glossary Anywhere is a thin-client that can pass a selected term to the Business Glossary server and return results in a small popup screen. You configure this to be invoked with a keystroke combination - and IBM lets you pretty much define this combination for your installation. Has anyone...

BGA: How can you do a mass update on the settings?

We are getting ready to roll BGA out within a small group as an Enterprise pilot. The Manager for Desktop Services asked me what I would do if the keystroke combination I had selected (Alt-G) ended up being in conflict with some other major software. Good question. I can manage this during the pilot...

Re: Cognos Glossary link to IBM Business Glossary

I did get a suggestion from IBM that I haven't been able to test yet. Please see my other post in the Metadata Management forum.

Configuring search from Cognos to Business Glossary

I submitted a Service Request to IBM to enhance the connection between Cognos and Business Glossary regarding the 'search' function. Hooking up BG to be used as the Cognos 'glossary' is easy. However, the search performs with an 'OR' condition. When the term in the Glossary is 'Employee Last Name' a...

Cognos Glossary link to IBM Business Glossary

Is there any way to customize the Cognos lookup to the glossary to limit it to a search for the exact report term? Right now it returns a list of any term that has any word from the report term name. So if I am doing a right-click glossary look up on 'Employee Start Date' - I'll get a long list of e...

And yet... it's not perfect!

Hi Vince. It's certainly not perfect and I'm open to new ideas! Right now we let people know about this as part of our marketing/training. We do customize the main screen text and I was thinking about adding a reference there as well - at least then it would be built into the tool. The email templat...

Here is how users can submit terms to Business Glosssary

Hey - others have probably figured this out as well, but I thought I would document it for sharing. I needed a method to allow Business Glossary users to submit new terms. Of course new terms go through Stewardship review, etc. - but I wanted something easy and integrated and couldn't wait for IBM t...

I believe our SysAdmin did try that with no luck for the BGA config.ini.

Anyone storing report images in repository?

Seems like I read about someone importing report image files/snapshots as entries to their Business Glossary. Anyone know of anyone doing something like this? Seems like you could use BG as a report repository - fitting them into a subcategory of 'reports' within your category tree - e.g. Finance>>R...
