I know if I had an urgent issue, I would not post it on a discussion board. Check with your SQL Server DBA. Maybe they can respond to an urgent issue quicker.

I get that same error when trying to log into a client while Information Server 8.5 is down. If your server really is up then maybe there is a firewall blocking traffic between your client and your server.

The Copy stage could be optimized out when the job is compiled.
