DSX members might like to see the granddaddy of DataStage

Hey all you DataStage fans and users.... It has been years and years since I have been here. I haven't used Datastage in a long time now. But I have a bit of a treat for you all today!!! Many of you will not know the grand daddy of DataStage was Metaphor. Metaphor was a company that Ralph Kimball co...

IBIs SeETL 3.1.01 GA now freely available for development

Hi All, this is probably the best place for this post. Anyone who has joined over the last 7 years probably does not know me. I used to be the PSM for Ardent in Australia in the late 90s. I have been an independent consultant wandering around Europe and places further afield for the last 11 years. I...

Re: DataStage job listings at an all time high

I haven't checked out the job sites in a while but a search of the Australian job site seek showed 110 DataStage jobs! I am used to seeing up to 20 jobs at any one time. Informatica had 49 job listings. There is a lot of duplication of listings on these sites and I figure if you divide it by three ...

Troy, you can get a lot more information from the Ralphs latest book on the ETL toolkit. Unfortunately and general ETL discussion is, by necessity, not tool specific. Also, if you check out my company web site www.instantbi.com you will see we have released a 'mapping spreadsheet' that will help you...

ProfileStage going non-responsive

Hi All, I guess this is hoping against hope as there seems to be almost no-one on this forum....but PS on my laptop is going non-responsive. Just hangs. I've tried everything that makes any sense at all and a few things that do not.... I've had the full PS on my laptop, as well as connecting to a se...

2GB Limit on odbc text drivers

Hi All, seems a very quiet forum. Anyway, in case it helps anyone else...we had a problem with PS and text files > 2GB on windows. It looks like the text ODBC driver that comes with it gets confused and delivers duplicate rows PS to profile....not much use really.... Ascential/IBM, you might want to...

Re: Using PStage Offline to review analysis

Hi All, I am working for an Ascential Reseller and we have sold PStage. We have run a whole series of analysis work for the client on a machine at the client. However, I'd like to be able to copy the PStage database to my laptop and review the analysis done back at the hotel. (All comments related ...

What Selection to make in PS for unique values

Hi guys, we have code tables which have things like code, sdesc, ldesc. If course, for each row each field is unique and in the column analysis the 'all distinct values' and 'unique' boxes are ticked in the value side and the 'chosen' side. I've been asked whether we should uncheck the tick boxes on...
