Templates I found on my version 7 client
Hi All, I have just been browsing my hard disk (as one does occasionally) and I found a directory called: C:\Program Files\Ascential\DataStage\Assistants\Generation\templates\enUS-CP1252 This looks to have some kind of templates in it for various jobs, SCDs1/2/3 etc. I asked one of the developers he...

Hi Ray, ah, so that's how you do that!!!!! Tom Nel and I were trying to figure out how to split an incoming batch of CDRs into say 8 streams (we have an 8CPU DS license) and then process those 8 streams using job invokation IDs.....what we couldn't figure out was how to write the job so that it knew...

Hi Ray, sorry, you are correct...I meant only hash files under 999MB can be loaded into memory.....in the testing we did we found that above that limit it was not worth using hash files.....so we made changes to get all our hash files in under the limit.....I don't thinks it's just a case of the spi...

Re: Processing large numbers of input files
Hi All, I forgot to paste waht we finally did.... The problem was the telco has 10 different switch input formats, many of which are binary, some of which have varying length records in them, almost non of which have newlines.......Each switch in the network (hundreds of them) generate files and thr...

Hi Marc, Thank You. I am very proud of my current release of ETL software....and it's started selling well now...... :D I'm sure the 'army of DBAs' were Oracle...it's just so time consuming to manage....especially with raw devices..... RB did a fine job of loading DWs......and I felt the loading was...

Re: URGENT - Creation of Hash File/Transformer - Error
MaheshKumar, if it is urgent, call Ascential support. This forum is not formal support. People help out as best they can. You cannot expect any faster reply by saying 'Urgent'. Now, do you mean 2 trillion rows in a hash file or 2 million....? Assuming you mean 2 million.....you need to be careful ho...

Re: Assigning current date and time in the transformer
How do I assign current timestamp into timestamp field in Oracle table? I am trying to do that in a transformer. Thanks. Bhusan, I put : Ans = (OCONV(DATE(), "D4-YMD[4,2,2]") : " " : OCONV(TIME(), "MTS:")) into a routine called GetSystemTimeStamp and then I call that f...

Re: Why Red Brick Warehouse remains a good choice
Hi Ray, and in red-brick you must create a table for each level and you must define the RI so that the loader knows how to consolidate during the load process etc, etc. Still a fine database. But most days I work on Oracle... Not my choice... :x My point was just that ETL processes/software ...

Hi All, thought it would be nice to let you know what we found out..... We are using the DD ODBC Wire driver for Oracle to avail ourselves of the better performance of Wire drivers.....and, if we just switch back to the standard ODBC driver that used Oracle client library to perform the jobs they wo...
