Thanks a mill Ken, I appreciate the response. I'll go ahead and turn it off. It's not like I can't access the deadlock menu and clear them out manually as you said.

Our Deadlock Daemon takes up an abnormally large amount of CPU while jobs are running. Is this normal? Does that indicate some type of configuration issue or possibly a tuning need? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We just came across the exact same solution, thank you for the response. I have no idea how it lost the references to $PROJDEF but now I'm concerned going forward that we could be missing those $PROJDEF references. Like Ray suggested, I will probably put a little tool together to verify our xml expo...

I'm not sure if you all are aware or not but Oracle just basically purchased PeopleSoft last week. (Not sure how anyone in the field wouldn't know about this by now.) :P Point is, I'm sure it won't be long before Oracle muscles out Ascential and puts in their own tools. That will certainly take a la...

 Well, I've almost answered my own question and it won't work the way I had planned it to. In our current version of Ascential 7.1r1 we have found that you can't change a project parameter value and have a job pickup that change without removing the parameter from the job and re-adding it. This...

On the topic of job parameters, I have a situation I hope someone has an answer for. We have global job parameters setup in the project so that our developers don't have to know the fsadm password to our databases. Those are fine and working well, but in our Development phase we want the developers ...

Along the same lines, do you think that code could also find things like who has a job open? Always a pain to try an work on a job and see that message that another user has it open. If you work in a large development team it could be tough to find out who has it open.

I have the same error 911 occuring right now, but no mention of &PH&. Oddly enough on another note, we are using AIX and I can't cd into the &PH& directory. It reacts very strangely as if the directory were an active process. I think the trailing & is confusing AIX into thinking ...

 Try to ignore my thread hijacking but this plays right into a question I have. I've looked at the documentation for the command line dsjob interface and I've used the param option to run all the jobs in a particular folder. The problem I have (this is part of PeopleSoft EPM btw), the delivere...

 Forgive my ignorance, can you give an example of how to use this script. The language looks a lot like perl code, I'm just wondering how I would invoke this script to estimate disk space usage. I'm running DataStage 7.1r1 on AIX 5.2.

Thanks,
Andy

I was just in the process of printing that out when you posted this. I think that is probably what I'm looking for. Just another case of RTFM on my part. I appreciate the response though.

We are using the DRS stage for our maps based on documentation from PeopleSoft. In the background I still have to put a valid dsn in the .odbc.ini under the $DSHOME. So I guess I must have something configured incorrectly, or we are not using the DRS correctly. Is there a delievered document for the...

Is ODBC required for Database communications in DataStage?

My apologies if this topic has already been covered, but I'm not the most adept at using the forum search. My question is if I have to use ODBC as my go between for communications between the DataStage Server and my Oracle Database. I understand I pretty much need it to allow my Clients to access me...

I couldn't help but add my own two cents. I first started using Ascential as part of bundle with our purchase of the PeopleSoft EPM module in January of this year. At that time it was just announced the Informatica Powermart would not be the ETL provider for PeopleSoft EPM going forward, and that As...
