always faced this

Hey Mohit, Good to see you here..Doing Good? I never used DRS stage, instead used ODBC connector to connect to various databases if a native stage is not found. These errors that you have highlighted around not using aliases for column names like (upper(x)) as XY or 'hardcoded' as HRDCD, we have alw...

Thanks Vincent, qt_ky
we also got to check with IBM on this and for our version, 11.5, they said that we can use all the entitled PVU on the engine tier and allocate service tier as per our requirement.

Hence, it does seem that post 11.3 , IBM changed the strategy as suggested by qt.

If you have not already tried, try with putting the sql in a file and reading from it.

The issue you mentioned seems like a bug. You may check with IBM on this

How are license PVU's counted?

Hi, I am trying to understand how licensing works with InfoSphere DataStage with respect to various tiers. Whatever licenses(PVU) we are eligible for , is that exclusively for engine tier or is shared with other tiers like services tier and/or metadata tier? ex. Suppose we have 140 PVU (2 cores) and...

padding

When you use the default padding i.e. 0x0, it is padded with ascii null which you can verify by taking ascii dump value of the padded character. Your SQL will not match name='xyz' name column has been padded with two ascii null charcaters(assuming that name is char(5). You must be careful while sele...

dbf drivers

Apologies for late posting .... Even though the .odbc.ini file mentions the complete driver name, when i checked in the path, the said driver does not exist. I am not sure if IBM ships it with the package. Does anybody have any idea? [dBase] Driver=/opt/IBM/InformationServer/Server/branded_odbc/lib/...

When you import table definitions using orchestrate, then you would see the option of specifying if the fields have any kind of prefix. If you let it to be default=2, then each field will be prefixed with "junk" characters. When you are developing your jobs, you should verify if your sourc...

is it filter

Hi Not sure what you are trying to say in the last few lines but if your requirement is to put filter while reading the sequential file you may use oany of the two options 1. Use Sequential File to read complete set of data and use filter stage to filter out records. Use parameters to change the dep...
