IBM is offering a course which outlines the new features in 8x. I addition, you can read alot ofdocumentation and links in documentation explains new features.

APT_DUMP_SCORE is effective for showing job score in DS run logs. APT_DUMP_SCORE can be set at environment level and/or job level( as environment variable) also.

It is advisable to generate sequence number and use in naming convensions for file name in "appropriate location". Also extract return code from mesage body for further filtering and error handling purposes, if you have that requirement.

If you let server upgrade process do upgade process, all projects on server will be backed up upgade process by exporting projects and other components, but not executables. If you include executables in manual process, these happened to me also.

You have work around for this being used by our gurus over years in UNIX with Awk and perl. Develop scripts in such away to take meta data file ( contains field name and definitions) . Use orchadmin utility at command line to delete, copy, describe datasets. Other wise use tools/dataset amangement in manager to manage the datasets.
