Hierarchical Stage - assembly editor doesn't save data

Hierarchical Stage uses a graphical interface named assembly editor. By now it is not possible to close this editor with "OK" or "CANCEL" Button. Only way to close is to close the window with "X", but then are all changes lost. The problem exists on other workstations, ...

Jobs disappeared from DataStage-Director

Hi, from one day to the other - without changing anything on the DataStage-system - the jobs of one DataStage-project just disappeared (meaning that they are not visible anymore in DataStage-Director or Designer). Pretty strange behaviour since no deployments have been made. DS.REINDEX etc. didn't h...

... as a matter of fact this problem only occured with parallel jobs but not with server jobs. Therefore the developer decided to use a server job as a workaround.
Thanks to all who discussed this issue with me..

the source is a database table (as described it's an external table which directly reads from a flatfile).
We have tried all kinds of datatypes: varchar (with and without extended unicode, nvarchar). None of those worked...

the value looks like an upsidedown questionmark... Our datastage-developer just told me that this problem occurs only with parallel jobs - but not with server-jobs. Since I'm not a datastage developer I don't have any idea why this makes such a difference. Maybe it's a bug in parallel jobs? I have o...

I agree: it just depends... And regrading Oracle: Oracle provides several benchmarks, white papers about HW requirements. The Oracle docs provide a recommendation how much CPU, RAM etc. at least is needed... Many thanks to all which have discussed this quetsion with me. The point with "no more ...

I know that this is some kind of a difficult discussion since it depends on the view of opinion, too. I agree that IBM will not be able to know how much load each customer will put on the servers. But I expected some kind of recommendations like "when running x-parallel jobs on the machine x CP...

That's what I was worried about :( I certainly had the hope that IBM has documented the CPU requirements (as Oracle does for it's database software). The license costs depend on the number of CPU's - now it's up to the enduser to figure out how many CPU's at least are needed. Pretty easy to stick wi...

CPU requirements DataStage 8.5

Hi, I'm looking for a document which describes the CPU-requirements for DataStage 8.5. We have installed DataStage on a virtual machine with Linux Enterprise Edition (Red Hat) as the operating system. The CPU's are Intel based (XEON). The first test with a one dual core CPU ended up in the situation...

stored procedure return value still empty

Hello,

The function is called with the syntax:

BEGIN :3 := STAGING.GET_PERIOD(:1, :2); END;

The function return a Varchar, the first ad second parameter are from type Input and the third (return_value) Function.

return_value is also set to output column, but the value is still empty.

Thanks

thanks, but my problem is: the setting in the dsenv file or in the user-defined enviroment has no effect to the orchdbutil tool.

the tool always shows the wrong setting on startup. The setting seems to be ignored.
