Thanks James. Now, this may involve dealing with interfaces, server and client licenses and other regulations. We are in the process of initiating talks with IBM. Hope we get some positive signs from them :)

Datastage Job executable (Job Run without GUI)

We are working on a solution with various 3rd party tools including ETL which could be bundled into a product. Our initial go was to make use of Informatica. However the requirement wanted us to package the entire solution into an executable without GUI which can be deployed at client site. Informat...

Disabled Parallel Jobs in the fresh(new) installation

Hi, I am trying to setup Datastage 8.0.1 (Server and Client) on Windows 2003 Server machine. WAS and Information Server are running fine. I followed all the installation steps and provided necessary credentials in information server. I am able to create and compile Server jobs successfully. But, I a...

can the absolute path of a script be a variable ?

I'm trying to parameterise the path of the script being called in execute command activity . But it is not allowing to have a parameter in the command option.

Is there any other alternative for it making it a variable ?

Ex : /home/dsadm/test_script.sh to #SCRIPT_DIR#test_script.sh

The director throws the "run time Key 457 Already exists" when someone had tried to rename the job while is it was running.

I had executed this command and it solved.
But if there is any other way of solving it in 8 . I would like to know about that also ?

The project NLS is set to ISO-8859-1. But i doubt , if the client server NLS plays any role here ? In the admin clients even before going to the projects , there is a option of setting the NLS clientserver mapping . If the project NLS had been used , it should have said Invalid characters found in I...

Invalid character(s) codepage ibm-1051_P100-1995 to Unicode

Hi I have searched the forum for this issue. My question is i read in the documents that the internal character representation used by datastage is UTF-16. So , where is this ibm-1051 codepage coming to picture ? Is the client server NLS mapping used causing the issue ? The NLS_LANG for the database...

The value passed to the error_cod='ERR-0020|FILENAME=Test_20080801.dat'

equal to symbol(=) not taken as a job parameter

when a job parameter has a "=" value , the job throws a warning
as this

Invalid argvalue `error_cod=----|FILENAME= Test_20080801.dat', missing =.

Inside the transformer , we are splitting the job parameter with the delimiter as "|"

How do i remove this warning.

my question is with the term you used as "outside world" .
So , encoding happens only when a file /dataset is read or written from disk.
