Better to explain what you need to achieve (i.e. what rank does in Informatica) for the benefit of those without experience of it.

Still confused.... :?

If you're trying to say that a hashed file can't be an input to a job, then that's false. As for scenarios when you couldn't use one, it's a rather too open-ended question/discussion, rather than a specific ask.

I don't think there will be any difference - either will use load functionality to achieve the same end. The load stage, however, offers far more flexibility in configuration of the process.

Arnd's just told you... in the project directories.

Look under /DatastageProject for starters... then in each project directory therein.

Would it not be better to resolve this at source instead perhaps? Why format the field concerned as "general" type in the first place? Keep it as text or indeed use the "time" type with the appropriate mask.

Sounds like an install issue (i.e. missing component) to me. Do you get the same issue using a DB2 API stage?

I mean the number of ways a table is partitioned in Oracle, yes.

Ah... that might be some part of the issue I guess. Could you try separating out the inserts and updates to different jobs or combining these, if possible, into one stream as an upsert instead?

Not necessarily true - if your Ora write is running in parallel it could be issuing far many more connections than that from the one job with two stages (i.e. as many as partitions you have in Oracle).

Me either... that description's a tad confusing :? we can't have a delete record available in the after dataset You can have a delete record in the change dataset, as it denotes that a record doesn't exist in the after dataset, in comparison to the before dataset. It shows the changes required on th...

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with loose cable connections... so much so that I'd wager one of Arnd's thralls on that. More likely, it's an issue of how many connections Oracle will handle in one go or some other environmental limitation. Run the error by your DBA, especially as it's an Oracl...

Looks like a definite environment (server level) issue to me. The main problem being: ##E TFPM 000050 16:09:46(004) <main_program> APT_PMListenerPort: socket call failed, errno = 13 I suspect it might be an issue of ports being open/available between the server Datastage is installed on and node01, ...
