Tech Tips Gone Hollywood!

Introducing the New Video Tech Tip Series
By Andy Sorrell

In our last newsletter Dennis mentioned that we would be adding new content for Premium Members, including new sources of information on DataStage. As such, I'm glad to announce that the first of the "Video Tech Tip" Series will be available for everyone to review when it is released. Our goal is to offer technical information over the web in a user-friendly format that:

  • Provides useful information that might be difficult to convey in a written forum post
  • Can be utilized fairly quickly using a broadband connection
  • Works on a majority of browsers

Please review the introduction video for now. In a few days, we will release a video sequence on the "Modify Stage" for DataStage's Enterprise Edition. These first videos can be considered a "trial-run" and we are holding off on further videos until we get some feedback from you. If you'll look in the "Site/Forum" section there will be a post near the top labeled "Video Feedback" – please post any and all comments there for everyone to review. We're specifically looking for feedback on certain items, like:

  • Did the Flash sequence work correctly on your browser? If not, what browser were you using and what problem did you encounter?
  • Did it load down in a reasonable time?
  • Did you find the contents informative?
  • Was the pace too fast, too slow, or just right?
  • Was the sound quality acceptable?
  • Was the video quality acceptable?
  • Were the screen shots readable on your screen? If not, what resolution were you using?

We'd love to hear what you think of this sample. Based on your feedback, we'll consider suggestions and ideas and then make some adjustments. Afterwards, we'll start putting new Video Tech Tips out on an ongoing basis.

Happy Viewing!
